Job Summary
Develops and implements Advanced Quality Management System improvements and lead design/process enhancements to meet internal goals and exceed external customer expectations. Works independently and collaboratively under the guidance of the Quality Site Lead, Quality Manager, or Director of Quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the development and launch of new products through effectively and proactively leading product quality planning.
- Collaborate closely with Value Stream managers and manufacturing operations to swiftly resolve complex quality issues using advanced problem-solving techniques.
- Take a lead role in completing preventive and corrective actions, for both internal and external customer issues, utilizing sophisticated engineering judgment and advanced root cause analysis tools.
- Ensure sustained effectiveness of preventive and corrective actions through rigorous verification and validation processes.
- Lead and execute comprehensive process capability studies and gage repeatability & reproducibility (GR&R) studies.
- Act as the primary representative on the Material Review Board, providing expert evaluation of nonconforming parts and proposing effective dispositions.
- Develop and implement control plans that are risk-based, robust and effective in all phases of production.
- Conduct thorough internal Management System and process audits, ensuring adherence to stringent quality standards.
- Evaluate and enhance the capability and performance of new and existing suppliers through detailed on-site audits and assessments.
- Proactively Interface with customers and suppliers to manage and resolve quality issues, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review & validate engineering specifications, drawings and work instructions to ensure alignment with customer requirements.
- Provide direct supervision and mentorship to Quality Technicians and/or Quality Inspectors, defining work responsibilities, performance goals, and training needs.
- Serve as a key point of contact for daily operational support, representing the Quality Team with authority and expertise.
- Represent the Quality Team as a point of contact for daily operational support.
Desired Requirements
- Education
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field or 10 years of applicable experience is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
- Certifications
ASQ Quality Engineer certification (CQE) is preferred.
Other certifications, such as ASQ Quality Manager (CMQ/OE), Lean, lead auditor (ISO 9001, TS 16949, 14001, etc.), Six Sigma Black/Green Belt, etc. are desired.

- Manufacturing
- Manufacturing or industrial environment work experience is required (4+ year).
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is required.
- Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) processes is preferred.
- Lean methodology/tools such as mistake-proofing (poke-yoke), value stream mapping (VSM), and Kaizen is preferred.
- Quality
- Standard problems solving skills (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.) required
- Process-based Management System audits (ISO 9001, 14001, TS 16949, etc.) is
- Implementation and evaluation of process controls is required.
- Development and maintenance of production Control Plans is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic gage calibration practices is preferred.

- Selection and analysis of statistical methods (SPC, ANOVA, hypothesis testing, etc.) is preferred.
- Application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methods is preferred.

- Design and analysis of Gage Repeatability& Reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies is preferred.

Skills
- Ability to provide strategic direction and effectively lead teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, VBA) and other statistical analysis tools.

- Capacity to plan, manage, and execute projects with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to use basic measurement instruments such as a micrometer, caliper, etc. is required.
Computer
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) with advanced capabilities in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis software such as Minitab, Power Bi or equivalent.
Physical
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for up to 8 hours or more per day is required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. on a limited basis, up to 40 lbs. occasionally is required.
- Ability to work with both hands and both feet on a regular basis is required.

- Travel up to 50% of the time within the US and internationally.

- Professional organization involvement is desired, such as American Society for Quality (ASQ), Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), Association for Operations Management (APICS), Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), or other similar.
